Our yummy baklava recipe is a classic Middle Eastern pastry made with layers of flaky phyllo dough, crunchy nuts, and a hint of spice.

Ingredients:

  • 1 package of phyllo dough (usually found in the freezer section of most supermarkets)
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 cup chopped pistachios
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).
  2. Thaw the phyllo dough according to the package instructions.
  3. In a bowl, mix together the chopped nuts, sugar, cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, and salt.
  4. Layer the phyllo dough in a large baking dish, brushing each layer with melted butter.
  5. Sprinkle a quarter of the nut mixture onto the phyllo dough, then repeat the layering process three more times.
  6. Cut it into diamond-shaped pieces and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until golden brown.
